Like many of us, Angela is frustrated with the politicians in Washington. Enough is Enough of the federal government’s massive debt, out of control spending, and punishing taxes. As a business owner, developing solutions is Angela’s approach. When elected to Congress, Angela would start with the fundamental basic principle of adhering to the Constitution and then make decisions based on deeply held Conservative principles like limited government, lower taxes, and personal responsibility. Protecting and creating quality jobs will be Angela’s top priority. That means fighting to stop much of the job destroying legislation promoted by the current Administration, as well as solving the following issues:
1. Implement the Fair Tax
We must stop taxing income and tax consumption instead. Our current system punishes hard work and achievement while rewarding special interests and the entitlement culture. Angela wants to eliminate the income tax and replace it with the Fair Tax. The Fair Tax would mean: no withholdings from pay checks, no Social Security deductions, no Medicare deductions, no estate taxes, no capital gains taxes and no corporate taxes. In short, everybody plays; everybody pays with the Fair Tax.
2. Secure Our Borders
It is the federal government’s responsibility to secure our borders- period. Angela will demand that the federal government meets its obligation to stop the unsustainable flow of illegal immigrants by constructing appropriate infrastructure, surveillance techniques, and border patrols. The current open border policy makes Americans less safe.
3. Become Energy Independent
Angela believes we must stop purchasing oil from countries who wish us harm. We are not going to solve our nation’s energy challenges by limiting our options, in the name of ‘Global Warming’. The Cap-and-Trade nonsense being debated in Congress defies logic. It would result in higher energy prices which will hurt our economy and destroy jobs. Angela knows we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil by putting four simple words to work, “Drill Here; Drill Now!”
4. Support Our Troops
Some would pretend we are not still at war, and our enemies ‘like us now’ since we have a new President. Angela has not forgotten and will do everything she can to support our men and women in harm’s way both at home and abroad. That means providing our armed forces with the best weapons and the best intelligence available, something Robins Air Force Base knows how to do. When our troops return victorious, Angela will work to have a quality Veteran’s Administration waiting to serve them.
5. Reduce Spending
Our federal government doesn’t have a debt problem; it has a spending problem. Angela believes a first step toward instilling fiscal discipline in the federal government is to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment. She also believes a balanced budget requirement isn’t an excuse to raise taxes. Properly implemented, a balanced budget would stop excessive borrowing and force Congress to cut unnecessary, ineffective programs.
6. Real Health Care Reform
America has the greatest health care system in the world. We care more, cure more, and create more medical solutions than any country in the world. Without a doubt, rising costs are an issue, but the answer is not a government takeover of healthcare. Angela would begin by supporting federal Tort Reform, legislation that would stop “junk lawsuits” and ensure the loser pays. Unnecessary lawsuits drive up health care costs and only benefit trial lawyers.
7. Protect the 2nd Amendment
Angela understands our country became the world’s only Superpower due to the vision and wisdom of its Founding Fathers. Second only to the right of free speech, our forefathers guaranteed the right for citizens to keep and bear arms through the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights. That’s good enough for Angela who has a conceal carry permit herself. She will fight any attempt to infringe on the rights of gun owners and sportsmen.
8. Promote Our Values
The Declaration of Independence states we are endowed by our Creator with certain “unalienable rights”; among them are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Angela will work to change our government so it upholds the ideals of the Declaration by protecting the most innocent of lives, the lives of the unborn. She is a hands-on warrior for the unborn, having cared for 21 foster infants in her home, through Covenant Care Services, for the 10 days required by law for a closed adoption to be finalized.
9. Localize Education
A quality education is mandatory in order to be competitive in the 21st Century global economy. The best way to offer a great education is to put the decision-making at the most local level possible - with the parents. Angela is committed to take education policy and funding decisions away from federal officials and place them back in the hands of local governments and parents. She believes we must also make use of technical schools to provide students, who do not want to pursue higher degrees, with skills they can use in the market place, to support themselves and their families.
10. Restore the Public’s Trust
- A 2000-page health care bill that lawmakers didn’t read.
- Important meetings that should be televised but are held behind closed doors.
- Multi-million dollar deals to buy votes for legislation the American people don’t want.
All these things, and more, have shaken the public’s trust in their government. Angela will demand true transparency including a requirement that all legislation, including the budget be posted online in a timely manner before a vote.
