"There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit." - Ronald Reagan
Friends,
Yesterday an unexpected event dramatically changed the dynamics for our Enough is Enough campaign. Republican State Representative Austin Scott, of Tifton, announced he will qualify for the 8th District Congressional seat instead of running for Governor as had been his focus previously.
Representative Scott was one of the many Republicans I contacted regarding their interest and intention to run against Jim Marshall. I told them 2010 was the year he could be defeated and would gladly volunteer to help draft a compelling, conservative message. I moved forward as a candidate only after each of them convinced me they were not going to run.
To recap, our mission has always been clear:
To save America by electing a conservative Republican to represent the values of the 8th District and in doing so to change the US House (D) majority to a US House (R) majority to stop this Administration's fundamental transformation of America.
Now, a candidate with a bigger network and more resources has entered the arena. As the current leader in funds, signs and name ID, I will forego a primary battle with Austin for the good of the nation. I have acted to meet the deadline to remove my name from the ballot since a Primary contest would drain precious monies, divide the Republican electorate, and probably result in an August primary runoff leaving Mr. Marshall as the beneficiary. I will take no action that works to re-elect him.
We started this campaign based on principle; we ran this campaign based on principle and we end this campaign based on both principle.....and political reality.
Thank you for your support. Because of you, the Enough is Enough message would have defeated the Democrat incumbent and changed Washington for the better. I would urge you to support future credible newcomer candidates as ours is designed to be a nation of citizen leaders. Also, please consider running for office yourself; call on me to write you the first donation check!
Please know I treasure your confidence in me and pray to work everyday, all day to alert our neighbors that this a critical time for America. The bracelet you see on my arm in our photos reads, "Make A Difference", with the letters toward me. That has always and will forever be my goal. I will soon communicate the campaign closing details, but for now, I just thank you all.
God - Country - Family - Self,
Honored and Humbled,
Angela Hicks
